Farr West Planning Commission Reviewing City Ordinances
Wed. February 24th 2010 Meeting
Acting Chairman Rick Hatch opened the working meeting as the Planning Commission continues its review of City Ordinances. City Council members Lee Dickemore and Michael Lunt provided guidance to the Commission regarding the Councils expectations as well as meeting schedules. Some members expressed frustration with the review process which is impacted by the need of a recorder or scribe; and solutions were offered to improve the flow of information which included better use of e-mail among members as well as with the City Attorney whose review of changes is believed to be required.
An ordinance on the subject of Solicitors was in review. The ordinance requires that they be licensed with the city, pay a fee, and carry their license and another form of identification with them, among other requirements. The city officials present indicated they are trying to guard against fraud. The subject of infractions was clarified. Infractions can be a misdemeanor but it was pointed out that the level must be defined since there are A, B, and C misdemeanors with each having a different maximum penalty. B and C level misdemeanors can be handled in the Justice Court. The meeting was concluded with the expression from members that they had made good progress and expected that more was to come with changes that were advanced on the 24th.
