Sentinel News Staff Willard Planning Officials Hear About “Historic” Design
by Managing Editor
City Planner Jay Aguilar presented many aspects of architectural design that may be required for new business buildings in Willard. The City Planning Commission listened for a good 45 minutes and watched a power point presentation showing “historical design” architecture required by municipal ordinances on business buildings in various cities around the State. Some cities have specific architectural design requirements in designated historic areas. Also, some less than visually appealing buildings and remodeled parts of buildings were depicted from other parts of Utah. These were shown as examples of buildings that probably would not comply with those historic architectural design ordinances.
Willard City is considering an ordinance mandating certain architectural designs for certain aspects of business buildings in certain parts of the city.
In other city discussions, officials wondered when the Front Runner might come to Willard. The common consensus was that it wouldn’t come soon because of the UTA costs for the rail line and train and especially the costs that would be required of Willard. |
