Pleasant View City Meeting 5/25/2010
Sentinel News Staff

Something to Consider

The videos uploaded to the Pleasant View portion of our site today are about the Mayor’s Youth Committee. This is something we have not encountered before; but, we'll do some research and get back with more information.

Most of the cities in our reading area have created web sites as a service to their communities. They are in various stages of completion; but we have found them to be a useful resource. The link for the Pleasant View site is: http://www.pleasantviewcity.com/. We recommend that you add this to your favorites list and check it occasionally.

As representatives of the Sentinel News, we have the privilege of sitting in on various council meetings. The one thing that is common in all these meetings is the absence of participation (and/or observation) of the community. We realize that all our readers are involved to some degree in evening activities which vary in importance; but, here is something to consider: These community meetings only last 60 to 90 minutes (in most cases). The subjects being discussed may or may not have importance to you and your family; but my experience has been that I feel better about being a member of my community because of observing the processes involved at the City Council level. I find that in most cases these are people who truly want to give their best personal attention to the issues that are presented for their deliberation and action; and they welcome informed contributions from the community.

Consider taking this challenge: attend at least two city council meetings in your community in the next month and see if it makes a difference in the way you feel about your leaders and yourself.
