Sentinel News Staff The Far West recreation center has been a facility that many members of the community have enjoyed; but according to the figures presented in the preliminary budget meeting on June 2nd, with current operating expenses, the city is having to use from $90-100 thousand dollars a year over the fees that community members are paying.
In order to meet these expenses, the city is considering making the building available to sources outside the city-especially during the winter months. The thing about this is that the facilities would not be available to city residents for the two nights they are considering (Monday and Tuesday). However, they should generate far more money from these outside sources.
It appears that something is going to have to change, as the city council seemed to realize that it can’t continue to create $100 thousand deficits each year. In any case, the council will have to decide how to handle this perplexing situation. |
