Notification came out that there will be a general election held for mayor (4 year term), two City Council seats (4 yr. terms) and one City Council seat (2 yr. term). Candidates need to file with the city recorder at the city offices (363 W. Independence Blvd, Harrisville) during normal office hours between June 1 and June 7.

Thinking of warm spring weather ahead, applications are being accepted for the community garden plots. These are 8’ X 8’ raised beds, located on the east side of the City offices. For more information, contact Laurence Boswell @ 801-782-4100 ext. 1004 or go to the City office.

Spring comes with baseball and softball sign-ups for grades K-9, from March 1st through March 31st. The 2017 games will start the first week of May. There are several seasonal employee openings for the summer recreation programs. For further information, visit the City website for registration and youth employment opportunities.

To all Harrisville youth ages 14-17: If you want to become involved in civic issues Be engaged in solving community problems Help in building community pride and service then this is a great opportunity the Harrisville Youth City Council. This is a great opportunity to:

• Plan and participate in the best events and activities all year

• Gain experience in leadership and civic duties.

• Gain and exchange valuable training in leadership

• Citizenship and government organization. Youth City Council members in other cities have found their experience has helped them on their resumes for college scholarships, employment applications, etc.
