Over at Fremont High, there’s a lot of celebrating going on. One reason is because the drill team is having an exceptionally great year. The team is made up of 27 girls who have been participating in different events throughout the year.

At the state tournament on January 31st, the team took 1st place in their military region competition and 9th place overall. “Military is a routine that displays precision movements. Choreography must demonstrate sharp clean arm sequences, straight lines and dynamic style,” says Coach Misty Robbins. The team has also competed at other local competitions using hip-hop, lyrical, jazz and character routines, with several 1st place finishes. Team member Madeline Massingill also happens to be on the All-state team, which is a huge honor. Coach Misty says, “I am so lucky to be a part of their [the team’s] high school journey. There are lots of things I would love the girls to learn from their experience in drill, but I think the most important is love what you do and do it well. And to always stay true to who you are.”

The team is currently getting ready for a competition in April held in California. Coach Misty would like to thank the local community “for their support in helping to make this trip possible.”
