Farr West City April News Update

Tired of slow internet or a lack of provider options? Farr West City is conducting a feasibility study to before Monday, June 3, 2019.

The Rec. Center SUMMER hours begin JUNE 3, 2019 and are as follows: Mon -Thurs 5:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.  3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Fri - 5:30 am-10:00 am & 3 Saturday 8 am-Noon and Sunday *Winter Hours will resume on October 1.

Our annual Freedom Festival is coming up.  If you are interested in volunteering to help with any activities during this event, please contact Councilman Boyd Ferrin at the City Office, 801-731-4187, right away as we are actively involved in planning all of the details now.  We greatly appreciate all of the community involvement we can get!  More information will be available in June.

The Annual Farr West City Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 20th at 9:00 a.m. at Mountain View Park located at 1500 N 1700 West.  The Easter Egg Hunt is open to West Residents ages 0-12.  Please bring your own basket.  Please call 801- with any questions.

Farr West City CERT and employees in a countywide emergency management exercise in April in conjunction with the Great Shake for future emergencies.  Officials from FEMA will be on hand to monitor this exercise.  The Farr West Emergency Operations Center will be partially activated during the exercise to evaluate our response to an earthquake.

The Farr West Youth Fishing Club will begin again this spring.  Planning has just begun and more information will be available shortly.

The Senior Community Center located on the west side of the city office building is available to seniors of Farr West City.  The center provides a place for seniors to engage with other seniors and become involved in activities and programs.  

The Senior Center has activities to participate in such as power walking, WII bowling, bingo, s glass class, foot clinic and blood pressure checks.  Future classes and activity ideas are always in consideration and suggestions from our Farr West seniors are welcome any time.  

Lunch is served every Monday (except Monday holidays) at 11:30 am.  Lunch is provided by Weber County Nutrition Services, menus are located on our senior newsletter which can be found on the Farr West City website each month.

 The Welcome Baby Program, part of the United Way of Northern Utah, is a FREE parent education home visitation program offered to all parents who have a child 0-3 years of age living in Weber County.  They are in need of home visitors to help conduct these monthly visits.  If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Alexandra Jolley, the Welcome Baby Program Coordinator, 399-5584 or at ajolley@uwnu.org.

Farr West City would like to remind residents to make sure that your sump pumps are not connected to the Sanitary Sewer. This is illegal and can severely overwhelm the sewer system. If you are unsure if your sump pump is connected correctly, please contact the city offices for a free inspection at 801-731-4187.
