Ogden, UT- In the center of the sprawling city  the spires of the LDS Ogden temple have been re-built and now stand ready receive close to 70,000 visitors. As of August 1, 2014, the temple welcomed all who wanted to go through its doors and gaze at the intricate artwork and learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This is a rare opportunity for non-members to step through the doors. After the building is dedicated the temple will be open only to members of the Church who are worthy. The Ogden temple is one of the 143 temples that serve LDS churchgoers worldwide.  The LDS church states "While the Church’s 18,000-plus meetinghouses are open to all people who wish to attend religious services temples, after they are formally dedicated, are open only to faithful Latter-day Saints. Temples are considered “houses of the Lord” where Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other ordinances that unite families for eternity. Inside, members learn more about the purpose of life and make promises to serve Jesus Christ and their fellowmen."

While the Ogden temple has been undergoing construction the Brigham City temple has been accommodating many of those who would normally go to the Ogden temple. With the re-opening this will help ease the Brigham City temple which operates at near capacity. The open house will continue through Sept, 6th.
