Nearly everyone loves the excitement of July and the fireworks that come with the celebrations. Unfortunately, all those great fireworks can lead to some not so great fires!! With the wet spring, grasses are high and so is the risk of fire.

Box Elder, Weber, and Cache counties have put restrictions in place to help minimize the risk. Here is a summary of the restrictions:

  1. No fireworks in unincorporated Box Elder County
  2. No open fires except in improved campgrounds with fire pits designed to contain them.
  3. No cutting, welding or grinding in areas of dry vegetation
  4. All ATV’s , chainsaws and motorcycles must have spark arrestors
  5. No smoking except in vehicles, buildings, or in paved areas or areas free from vegetation.

This does not affect private property. Persons found to be violating these restrictions are subject to fines and or jail times.

Keep in mind things are really dry out there; so if you are letting off fireworks at home, keep it safe and have a hose handy to put out any sparks.
