James Ebert Running for Weber County Commissioner

With a population of 248,000 people in Weber County, James Ebert would like to be the next Weber County Commissioner to serve the citizens here. Weber County is full of diversity, recreational outdoor space and creativity.  Ebert has a desire to be committed to building a prosperous county through economic and community development.

Ebert has served his community for over 25 years as a member of law enforcement, as a community volunteer, youth coach and an elected official. Ebert worked for the Riverdale Police Department serving as a patrolman, traffic officer, detective, sergeant, and as the administrative lieutenant for the department.

As far as his education, Ebert attended Weber State University, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  Innovation, resiliency and collaboration are all ideas that Ebert embraces.

Ebert took office in January 2015 and has prioritized Economic and Community Development as a main point of interest for the success and prosperity in Weber County. Due to his desire to continue with this endeavor, Ebert has taken on such issues as poverty, diversity, physical and behavior health, criminal justice reform, business development, low income housing disparity, and homelessness.

Ebert serves on a multitude of boards and committees to address these vital issues. Here are some examples of his service: Chair of the Weber Human Service Board, Health Department liaison and Board member, Wasatch Front Regional Council Board Member on both the Regional Growth and the Economic Development teams, Chair of the Weber County Welfare Reform, Commission, and Weber County’s diversity initiative.

On a personal note, Ebert and his wife, Steffani, live in Farr West.  They love living in that community, where they have four sons, one daughter and two grandchildren. As a family, they enjoy camping, playing and coaching sports, and certainly being involved in their community.
