Linda and Jeff Martinez opened the doors to the Children’s House Montessori Preschool in Pleasant View in 2008.  They are in their 6th year of operation.

When they decided to start this preschool Mrs. Martinez said, “I realized no one in the area offered a Montessori  preschool education. I believe in the Montessori method and I feel it’s a wonderful surprise that awaits parents who take the time to fully evaluate their child’s educational options. For most children it can be the key to a lifelong love of learning.  Montessori education has gained in popularity in the local area.

The Montessori method was founded by a woman by the name of Dr. Maria Montessori, she was one of the first women physicians in Italy. She based her educational methods on scientific observation of children’s learning processes. Guided by her discovery that children teach themselves, Dr. Montessori designed a “prepared environment” in which children could freely choose from a number of developmentally appropriate activities. Montessori emphasizes learning through all five senses. The Montessori method is now taught in schools around the world.

“What I love about Montessori is that every child is taught at their own individual pace. We follow the child; we are their teaching guides. Our curriculum includes Practical Life, Language Arts, Mathematics, Sensorial, Geography, Science and Art with an emphasis on famous artists.  Our playground/backyard is fully fenced. We have square box gardening where students grow their own fruits and vegetables.  We have a wonderful creek that runs through our backyard providing students with an unsurpassed nature experience.

The Montessori environment contains specially designed, manipulative “materials for development” that invite children to engage in learning activities of their own individual choice. Under the guidance of a trained teacher, children in a Montessori classroom learn by making discoveries with materials that cultivate concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.

The Children House Montessori Preschool is enrolling students for the 2014-2015 school year.  We have a limited enrollment in keeping our student to teacher ration low; providing your child with a personal attentive education.
