4th Annual Maria Montessori Science Fair Results

Our Science Fair this year was wonderful success. For those of you who had the opportunity to visit the Fair during our Open House, you would have seen many interesting projects and all the hard work the students put into them. We had 185 projects this year! It was a great learning experience for all. We are also very proud of our sixth and seventh graders who went on to compete at the regional Ritchey Engineering and Science Fair. We had several students who won awards at this very competitive fair and two of them are eligible to go on to compete for the national Broadcom Masters. Here are the results:

Ritchey Engineering and Science Fair

Arianne Blackburn – First Place (Chemistry) and Two Special Awards in Chemical and Meteorological Science Associations – Eligible to compete at the Broadcom Masters

Hailey Brimhall – 3rd Place and eligible to compete at the Broadcom Masters

William Thompson – 3rd Place (Engineering)

Elke Sprague – Excellent (Zoology)

Annika Robrecht – Honorable Mention (Microbiology)

Matthew Pauling – Honorable Mention (Medical)

Winners of the Maria Montessori 4th Annual Science Fair:

Elementary Category (4th and 5th)

First Place – Zachary Blackard for his project “Sink the Wood”

Second Place – Anda Sprague for her project “Does Different Food Attract Different Birds?” and Luke Webb for his project “Video Game Brain”

Third Place – Spencer Holland for “Water Engineering”

Middle School Category (6th and 7th)

First Place – Arianne Blackburn for “The Power of Sunscreen”

Second Place – William Thompson for “Crack…Snap”

Third Place – Haily Brimhall for “Don’t Let that Turkey Turn”

There were so many wonderful projects to review and the judges had a very difficult time. Congratulations to all.

 

April 27th-May 2nd    6th Grade Fieldtrip to the California Redwoods

Pizza Friday Fundraiser Friday April 25th will be our last pizza Friday. Thanks to all that supported our 6th graders in raising money for their field trip to the Redwoods. We appreciate your support so much!

May 5-9: Teacher Appreciation week-Flyers will be sent home

May 6th: Spring General meeting in the evening. This will be a potluck like our Fall meeting. Keep an eye out for details!

May 24th: FIELD DAY! Stephanie Wallis is looking for help so email her here stephaniewallis82@gmail.com. The kids absolutely love this day!
