Registration Day:  Registration day is April 8th at the Harrisville Cabin from 9am-1pm and 3-7pm.  Come fill in your registration packets and learn more about our school:  After school programs, meet staff and teachers, take your Kinder screener and organize our Parent Crews.  IF you can help us with registration and have some good person

Kindergarten Update:  Parents, we will have 3 Kindergarten classes at GreenWood:  2 part day Kinders 8:30- 11:30 and 12:30-3:30, and 1 All-day Kinder.  Parents may request either AM or PM for their Kinder.  The All-day Kinder will be a support to families whose students are struggling with reading and will be partially funded from a grant from the State Office of Education.  All Kinders will be screened at registration for their reading readiness, and this screener will be used to determine those students most in need of the extra reading support in our All-day Kinder class.  Families will receive confirmations of their Kinder placement by mid-May.

APRIL Family Night:  Who did you invite last night?  Missed this one?  Invite a friend or neighbor to our APRIL 21st Family Night at 7pm!  Spread the word!  Our Kinder is filling up fast, but our older grades need more students- invite your child’s friend’s families.  Now is the time to recruit your neighborhoods and families with our April 9th lottery.  Now is the best time to learn more about GreenWood- share this good news with the people you want to share in building your amazing GreenWood family story!  If you can help us with the kids activity tables, please come at 6:45 to help with set-up.

Lottery Update:  We are happy for each of you that received confirmation that you have been given a seat with GreenWood this Fall!  For those of you who did not make this first lottery, we are sorry and hope that you will stay with us to have another chance at our April Lottery, held on April 9th. Please help us spread the word in the older grades.  For those of you who received a 3-6th grade slot for your student, please encourage them to talk with their friends and you to talk with their parents about why you made the choice to bring your family to GreenWood.  You would be surprised how quickly your spark can spread throughout your neighborhood.  Harrisville Families- help us to spread the word about our new school coming to your community.  Thanks to all of you who are telling your friends and neighbors already.  It is your good work that will help us meet our enrollment sooner to involve our wonderful families!

APRIL 21st Family Night at 7pm!  Now is the time to recruit your neighborhoods and families!.  Now is the best time to learn more about GreenWood- share this good news with the people you associate with- the carpool, the playdate, the soccer game… APPLY for GreenWood TODAY!!  Student applications are available on the website https://secure.h-wire.com/waiting_list/waiting_list_application.php  Get your students signed up early!  Help us spread the word!  Help us by sharing a flier, a FB post, or by talking to a neighbor about this new school opening up next year.  Please help us share our website, a flier or a kind word about GreenWood around in your neighborhood.

**Newsletter:  As you have read each week, you know that pretty newsletters are not my expertise.  I am calling out to you who are to rescue me from the abyss of plain text and help us GROW a GREAT GREENWOOD newsletter!!!  I know you’re out there….somewhere…somewhere!  Cue whatever 70’s song those lyrics belong to!  Email me if you are interested!  jkidd@greenwoodcharter.org
**Registration Helpers:  Now that we have students to enroll, we need your help to organize our registration packets and parent intake preparing for and helping with our registration days on April 8 & 28, & May 20.  We are looking for 5-10 organized moms with some office experience who can help us.  Please email Misty at mbiesinger@greenwoodcharter.org to help!
**Earth Day Booth:  We have a booth reserved at the Ogden Nature Center on Saturday, April 19th.  Can you help us?  We need 8 parents to work 2 hour shifts from 8am until 4pm.  Please email jkidd@greenwoodcharter.org if you can help us.  Please help if you are able- we have 3 parents signed up to help- can you help us too? Shifts are from 10-12, 12-2 and 2-4.  Help share why you are coming to GreenWood with Nature Center families!
**Phone Calls:  Can you help us keep connected with our GreenWood families?  We don’t see you everyday, and would like to have some groups established to keep connected and communicate announcements.  If you are friendly and love to reach out to others, email me to help us.
**Yearbook:  Photo savvy?  Always the one remembering to take the picture of the event?  We need you!  …and your pictures!  We would like to start our Yearbook support now to help document our planning year, our fun family events, even the construction of the building.  If you think you could help, email me at jkidd@greenwoodcharter.org
Finding people:
o   local farmers who can help us provide their produce for our kitchen.
o   local artisans who can bring their craft to our school.
o   volunteers who can help us build our student reading and math tutoring programs.
·         Sharing GreenWood posts on Facebook- we try to share meaningful content to support our families implementing the HEALTH values.
·         Helping with children’s activities at our upcoming Family Nights on April 21st at 7pm
·         Inviting a friend or neighbor to join us at our Family Nite!
·         Organizing a book drive at your place of work or in your neighborhoods
·         Asking around for donations of office and school furniture

 

Parent Crews:

Outreach/ Marketing:  Monday, April 6th at 6:30pm we would like to meet in the parking lot of the Harrisville Cabin for a neighborhood flier blitz.  Bring your families and help us walk and deliver fliers to the Harrisville neighborhoods that will come to GreenWood.  We also need your help to spread the word about GreenWood in your neighborhoods.  Will you help us?  If your family can help us hand these out in your neighborhood, please send me a text and I can bring you a stack:  801-388-3967.

Library:  Keep bringing in those donations for books!  We will have donations boxes set up at our upcoming Family Nites.  SO many of you continue to support our effort!  Thank-you!!!  Our library will be the center of our school's support to our students! We need books, books, and more books!  We will need instructional guides, maps, periodicals and other resources that will support our student research.  If this is an area you are interested in helping with, please email cmbrown82@msn.com.  Our goal is to have 2500 books to start our school.  Clean out those closets, stop at that yard sale, ask Gramma to donate- build our GreenWood Library!!

Donations:  We are in need of white boards, teachers desks, garbage cans and rugs.  Please help us find storage!  Our goal is to furnish as much of our school as we can with donations from the community and local businesses.  Please help us find these donations and donors willing to help us. We will need teacher desks, office chairs, garbage and recycling cans, filing cabinets, student tables and chairs, lunchroom equipment and tables, office tables and furniture, shelving and cabinets. We will also need a storage facility to keep these donations until the school opens. We need a family who can help manage this Crew.  If you are looking for Founding Member hours- this would be that opportunity.  Email me if you are able and willing jkidd@greenwoodcharter.org
